I’m from Bangor. I started Wicked Good Websites because a lot of the best businesses around here, like the plumber everybody recommends or the shop that’s been on Main Street forever, are hard to find online or only have a Facebook page.
I build websites that make it easy for customers to find you and call you, and I stick around to keep them right. Plain English, a fair price, and a real person who answers.
Questions
I already have a Facebook page. Why do I need a website?
Keep the Facebook page, and I’ll link to it. Plenty of customers aren’t on Facebook, and people who search your name on Google want your number, services, and hours one tap away. The website is where they land.
I get all my work from word of mouth.
That’s the best kind. People who hear your name still look you up before they call. The site makes sure they find the right number, the towns you cover, and your hours.
I already have a website. Can you still help?
Yes. I’ll build a sample replacement first. If it isn’t clearly better than what you have, keep what you have.
Can you get me to the top of Google?
Nobody honest can promise that. What I can do is keep your Google listing complete and accurate, and give Google a clear page for every service and town you cover.
Do I need to write anything or take photos?
No. I start from your Google listing and ask you a few questions. If you have photos you like, great. If not, I use royalty-free photos or illustrations.
What’s the catch with the free sample?
There isn’t one. If you like it, we talk about making it yours. If not, no hard feelings, and the sample comes down.
Can you add something specific to my business?
Almost certainly. A hiring page, financing info, before-and-after photos, a seasonal special, a price list, a map of where you work: tell me what you want and I’ll build it in. The sample is only a starting point, and the more you tell me, the more it fits how you actually work.
Do I have to learn any of the tech?
No. Hosting, updates, security, and your Google listing are all on me. You text or email me a change, and I make it. You run the business; I handle the online side.
Will a website help me show up on Google?
Yes, that’s a big part of it. Google shows a business more often when it has a real website, and each service and each town you cover gets its own page, so someone searching “drain cleaning in Orono” can find you, not just people who already know your name. Your Google listing links to the site, and I keep both current. Nobody can honestly promise a spot at the top, and I won’t.
Is there a contract?
Yes, a simple one: $99 a month with a 6-month minimum, plus the $199 setup fee. After 6 months it’s month to month, and you can cancel with 30 days’ notice. The first 3 clients don’t pay the setup fee.
Who do you work with?
Right now I’m focused on plumbing, heating, HVAC, and heat pump companies around Bangor, because that’s what I’ve built the most for. Run a different kind of local business? Ask, and I’ll tell you honestly if I’m a good fit.
